The admissions committee considers for admission students who wish to attend the William S. Boyd School of Law as visiting students after having completed a minimum of one year of legal study in a Juris Doctor program at an ABA-accredited law school (or an accredited Canadian law school), for no more than two semesters to earn credit for transfer to their home institution.
Applicants must submit:
- a completed application form;
- a $50 non-refundable application fee;
- a personal statement no longer than three typewritten pages (double-spaced, 12-point font, one-inch margins), which should include some discussion of why the applicant wishes to visit the Boyd School of Law;
- a résumé;
- a Credential Assembly Service (CAS) report containing a transcript summary and a record of LSAT scores;
- a letter of good standing from the law school at which the applicant has studied, including class rank (if available), that grants permission from the host law school to attend the Boyd School of Law as a visiting student; and
- an official law school transcript.
The admissions committee will assess visiting applicants using the same criteria as those used in assessing first-year applicants, as well as the applicant's performance in law school courses and the quality of the law school at which the applicant has studied.
Visiting application deadlines:
Fall: April 1 - July 1
Spring: October 1 - December 1
Summer: April 1 - May 1
