- UNLV partners with Academic HealthPlans (AHP) to provide graduate and professional student health coverage for the 2025-2026 academic year. Full-time students will be automatically pre-enrolled, but will have the option to waive out by using another health insurance option, and part-time students will have the option to purchase health insurance through the plan. Learn more about the plan and deadlines for enrollment and waivers. Visit the UNLV's student health insurance page and click through to the AHP website to either enroll or fill out the waiver. If you have any questions, contact Ellen Bolt at insurancewaiver.grads@unlv.edu or (702) 895-3370.
For those wanting to waive the AHP plan, read the following carefully:
When Can I Submit a Health Insurance Waiver? After the health insurance fee appears on a student account (which will occur in late July 2024), students will have to wait three business days before they are able to submit their health insurance fee waiver. This is the amount of time it takes for their information to be sent to our health insurance enrollment company, AHP; once they have it, students will be recognized in their system as a UNLV student impacted by the mandatory health insurance policy, and thereby be able to submit a waiver. If students attempt to submit a waiver before the three full business day timeline, they will not be recognized by the AHP system and their waiver will not process.
- Immunizations (Submit using Rebel Success Hub f/k/a Self-Service - must have NSHE and ACE ID to submit; NSHE and ACE ID will be emailed to you in late April/early May)

- Two doses of measles, mumps, and rubella (MMRs). The first dose must be on or after your first birthday.

The Admissions Office will issue each student an NSHE ID number (your university ID number) after the first seat deposit deadline (typically late April/early May). Your NSHE ID will be emailed to you using your primary email address. Your ID number is used for several university services such obtaining a parking permit, accessing the My BoydLaw portal (the law school’s student information system) and MyUNLV (the university's student information system), requesting on campus housing, and using the university student recreation and wellness center. Be sure to check your email and inform us if your email address changes.
Living off campus
Las Vegas is a dynamic community with much to offer its residents and we believe the following communities will best suit your needs as incoming students at Boyd. The law school partnered with VeryApt to produce a housing guide for Boyd Law students. The Las Vegas area has numerous communities, which include:
- Green Valley, a master-planned community, is located in the southeast part of the valley and is a suburb of Henderson. Green Valley is in close proximity to the 215 beltway and 95 freeway and approximately 10 miles from the law school. The area has much to offer boasting amenities such as shopping and dining as well as the Green Valley Ranch Resort and the mixed use metropolitan community at The District at Green Valley Ranch.
- Southwest Las Vegas is an up and coming community located in the southwest region of Las Vegas in the town of Enterprise. Mountain’s Edge is a master planned community within the southwest, offering hiking trails and other recreational activities. Southwest Las Vegas is in close proximity to the 215 beltway and is approximately 11 miles from the law school.
- Summerlin, a suburb of Las Vegas, is known for its miles of walking trails and vast array of amenities. In close proximity to Red Rock Canyon, the neighborhood offers a vast array of dining, shopping, community parks and trails. Summerlin is also home to the Red Rock Resort and Downtown Summerlin Shopping Center. This Las Vegas community is approximately 15 miles from the law school and is in close proximity to the 215 beltway and 95 freeway.
- Law students also live other neighborhoods across the Las Vegas Valley such as the St. Rose Parkway corridor (Silverado Ranch), Southern Highlands, Downtown South, the Arts District, Spring Valley, North Las Vegas, East Las Vegas, and Peccole Ranch.
