Steven J.T. Washington '15
What have you been up to since you graduated?
After graduating, I had the opportunity to clerk for Judge T. Arthur Ritchie and Judge Timothy C. Williams of the Eighth Judicial District Court. The lessons I learned through my clerkship continue to assist me in my practice. Following my clerkships I began practicing civil litigation with Murchison & Cumming, LLP. Last September, I joined Littler Mendelson P.C. where I counsel employers on a host of labor and employment matters.
As an attorney, how do you affect or make changes in the community?
As an attorney, there are so many ways for us to affect change in our community. As a litigation attorney, I regularly advocate for my clients in court and in administrative proceedings. When I’m not advocating for my clients, I enjoy supporting nonprofits in the community. I currently serve as a board member for Best Buddies Nevada, Boys Town Nevada, and Nevada Rise Academy. I also serve as the Membership Committee Chair for the Las Vegas National Bar Association. Feel free to reach out to me or click the link(s) if you are interested in supporting or getting involved with any of these amazing organizations.
Any advice you would give to a recent Boyd Graduate?
Judge Williams always reminded me that the best thing one can do for themselves and the community, is to be in a position of influence and decision making, because in this position you can help shape policy and determine the course of the future.
