Justin Iverson
Justin Iverson is a Research Librarian and Assistant Professor at the Wiener-Rogers Law Library at the William S. Boyd School of Law. He provides research assistance to law faculty, instructs students on research methods, and assists library patrons with legal reference services.
Professor Iverson has taught Legal Education & Assistance in Prisons (LEAP) and Advanced Legal Research: Health Law. In partnership with the Nevada Department of Corrections, students in LEAP make visits to prison libraries to understand conditions of confinement and the availability of legal resources to the incarcerated population. Students then work throughout the semester to prepare legal information guides on a variety of criminal and civil legal topics. These guides remain available in the prison library as a permanent resource to assist with researching legal issues.
Within the law school community, Professor Iverson serves as a board member for the Program on Race, Gender, & Policing in addition to his work with other committees. Outside of the law school, he is Co-Chair of the Nevada Library Association’s Government Relations Committee. Professor Iverson also serves as a member of the Nevada Prison Education Program.
Prior to joining the Boyd faculty, Professor Iverson was a Law Librarian at the Clark County Law Library in Las Vegas, Nevada from 2016-2021, providing reference services and research support to public patrons as well as inmates in pretrial custody. He practiced medical malpractice insurance defense law at Alverson, Taylor, Mortensen & Sanders in Las Vegas from 2015-2016.
Professor Iverson received his Master of Library Science from Emporia State University in 2021. He received his J.D. cum laude from Savannah Law School in 2015, serving as Managing Editor for the Savannah Law Review and Research Assistant to Professor Andrew McCanse Wright. While in law school, he completed externships with the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia, and the Honorable John E. Morse, Jr. in the Eastern Judicial Circuit of Georgia.
