Our Mission

Our mission is to advance our understanding of and approaches to conflict resolution through study and practice. Saltman faculty produce cutting-edge scholarship exploring various forms of conflict resolution and conflict prevention, offer opportunities for students to learn through coursework and experiential learning, and support local and broader communities in developing and implementing conflict resolution and prevention practices.

For the Public

Building on our mission to advance the understanding and practice of conflict resolution, the Saltman Center offers programs and resources that serve both the legal community and the public. The Center hosts public fora, continuing education programs, and skills-building workshops covering a range of topics in conflict resolution.

Community Programming

The Saltman Center hosts lectures, conferences, symposia, mediation trainings, and restorative practice workshops. In addition to these public events, the Center sponsors Continuing Legal Education programs that satisfy the requirements of the State Bar of Nevada and the bars of other states.

Resource Library

The Saltman Center offers numerous resources for those wanting to learn more about conflict resolution and Saltman Center happenings. Our resource library includes video resources, one-pagers, the Saltman Center newsletter, and faculty publications.

Scholarly Commons Collection

Boyd School of Law Faculty at the Saltman Center produce leading scholarship exploring various aspects of conflict resolution. This diverse array of research materials is available for use by students, academics, legal practitioners, and the public.

Boyd Law Student Opportunities

The following programs are available to Boyd Students through a curriculum focused on conflict resolution.  

Dispute Resolution Concentration

Boyd law students have the opportunity to graduate with a concentration in Dispute Resolution. Students completing this concentration will develop greater proficiency in litigation and non-litigation methods to resolve client disputes, and be better equipped as well-rounded practitioners.

Pathways to Practice

Boyd’s experiential education program offers multiple opportunities for students to immerse themselves in various forms of conflict resolution. Learn more about how Boyd prepares students for their roles as lawyers.

Competitions

Boyd Law students have the opportunity to build their dispute resolution skills in internal, regional, and national competitions under the guidance of Saltman Center faculty.
