Personalized Career Counseling – Includes résumé and cover letter review and individual counseling to develop strategies for identifying opportunities and developing job search tools and techniques.
Reciprocity – Reciprocity is an arrangement that allows students and graduates to access job postings at law schools in other states. Dinner with a Boyd Lawyer
This program provides an opportunity for law students to network with Boyd alumni while receiving educational and career advice. Boyd alumni host one or more students for a casual meal to answer questions and provide insight about law school and the practice of law. This program runs throughout the summer and winter breaks. Mock Interview Program
Boyd alumni and local practitioners conduct mock interviews in their own offices to provide law students with a realistic experience. Each mock interview will last approximately 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of feedback from the interviewer. This program runs throughout the year.
Partners in Pro Bono
The program provides an opportunity for an attorney and law student to work together on a pre-screened case from the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada. The types of cases placed in this program range from divorce and child custody to civil cases of wrongful wage garnishment, automobile fraud and deceptive trade practices, and consumer fraud cases such as real estate scams/equity skimming, and predatory lending. The lawyer is expected to mentor the law student and allow the law student to participate in all aspects of the case, from the initial interview of the client, writing the demand letter, to possible litigation. Lunch with a Law Firm
During the academic year and summer months, local employers host Boyd students for lunch, giving students the opportunity to meet with attorneys at their offices on an informal basis. This program is designed to inform students about the local legal market and the practice of law, and is also a great networking opportunity.
