Meet Michael Saltman: A Conversation on Business, Vision, and the Roots of the Saltman Center

On Monday, October 20, 2025, the Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution and the Dispute Resolution Society hosted Meet Michael Saltman, an event celebrating the life, work, and vision of the Center’s namesake.

The conversation was moderated by Distinguished Saltman Fellow Patrick Chapin and featured Emerita Professor of Law Jean Sternlight, Founding Director of the Saltman Center, who helped frame the discussion around Mr. Saltman’s long-standing commitment to advancing conflict resolution and education.

Drawing on his decades of experience as an entrepreneur and global business leader, Michael Saltman shared his unique perspective on alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and its role in fostering collaboration and problem-solving across industries. His insights connected the principles of ADR with real-world applications in business and community leadership.

Mr. Saltman has made a profound and lasting impact on both UNLV and the Las Vegas community through his professional achievements and philanthropy. He is the managing general partner and president of The Vista Group, a real estate development firm with projects across Nevada, California, Florida, and Utah. He also founded and served as managing general partner of the Flamingo-Decatur Partnership and as managing partner of Ford Aerospace and Communications Corporation Development, developers of the Las Vegas Technology Center.

The event offered students and faculty a rare opportunity to hear directly from the visionary whose generosity and leadership helped establish the Saltman Center as a hub for innovation in conflict resolution and legal education.
