Pepperdine Caruso School of Law’s Maureen Arellano to serve as guest speaker for the Saltman Center’s annual lecture series

Maureen Arellano Weston has been selected as the 2024 Beecroft Lecture presenter. A professor of law at Pepperdine University’s Caruso School of Law, Weston also serves as director of the school’s entertainment, media, and sports dispute resolution project. 

Weston will present on “Arbitrating Sports, Politics & Human Rights: Who Decides?” on February 22, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at the Thomas and Mack Moot Court on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

The Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution at the Boyd School of Law was founded on multiple core principles. One of those: to stimulate scholarly research and exchanges on the nature of conflict and explore methods for avoiding and resolving disputes.

This spring, the Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution welcomed Marquette University Law School Professor Andrea Schneider for the 2018 Chris Beecroft Jr. Lecture on Conflict Resolution at the Thomas & Mack Moot Courtroom. Inaugural Beecroft Lecture Generates Spirited Response

The Chris Beecroft Lecture on Conflict Resolution debuted last spring, when Stanford Law Professor Deborah Hensler visited the Thomas & Mack Moot Court Facility to address the topic of formal versus informal arbitration settings. Hensler’s lecture inspired a handful of colleagues to weigh in on the matter by authoring response articles.
